Clay W Hamlin, III is an entrepreneurial American Businessman born in 1945 and raised in Buffalo, New York. He attended The Nichols School in Buffalo and University of Pennsylvania and after graduation became a resident of Philadelphia, PA.
Following a career in accounting and corporate law in Philadelphia, Hamlin joined The Shidler Group in 1989 in a partnership with Jay Shidler of Honolulu, Hawaii as the Managing Partner of the Mid-Atlantic region. The Shidler Group (1) is focused on owning and operating commercial real estate, primarily office and industrial properties. Hamlin participated in the founding in 1993 and 1994 of Tri Net and First Industrial, two publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trusts ("REITs").
In 1997, Hamlin and Shilder founded Corporate Office Properties Trust (NYSE:OFC). In his eight years beginning in 1997 as CEO, Corporate Office Properties, an acquirer, developer and owner/operator of suburban office properties in the Mid-Atlantic, grew from $200 million in assets to an enterprise value in excess of $4 billion, and achieved the highest total shareholder return of all publicly traded U.S. REITs.
Hamlin is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of LBCW Investments (2), a privately held investment company investing in private equity, structured debt, and special opportunities, as well as public debt and equity securities. In 2009, he co-founded Alliance Partners, HSP (3) with Jay Shilder, which has acquired $750 million of commercial real estate. Hamlin is the Chief Executive Officer of CITRS, (4) a non-profit character education company catering to k-12 schools, and the President of the Hamlin Family Foundation (5).

Education
Clay received his undergraduate degree, earning the Class of 1915 Award for the Ideal Scholar/Athlete, from The University of Pennsylvania. He is a former All Ivy tennis player and a member of the University of Pennsylvania Tennis Hall of Fame. Hamlin received an MBA in accounting and finance from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctor degree from Temple University, and previously practiced as a Certified Public Accountant and as a corporate, tax and real estate lawyer. During the Vietnam War, Clay served as a Lieutenant J.G. on the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, USS Wasp, in the late 1960s.

The Project to End Prostate Cancer/National Prostate Cancer Coalition
In 2001, Clay Hamlin joined the board of the National Prostate Cancer Coalition, later renamed the Prostate Cancer Foundation, which is the leading philanthropic organization funding and accelerating prostate cancer research globally. Clay teamed up with Michael Milken, founder of the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) to start the Philly Against Prostate Cancer annual fundraising event.The Philly Against Prostate Cancer 2014 event raised over $5 million to be dedicated to local physicians and scientists ("young investigators") for their research and goal of finding a cure.
